“Viti” traces the lines drawn by the vines and the old vineyard—capturing them before they are lost.
VINES
“Viti” captures the continuous inquiry into the lines drawn by vines and vineyards on the hillside. From the chaotic overgrowth of summer to the structured order of pruning in winter, the vines embody the tension between order and chaos. Through observational studies, abstract line drawings, mark making, and the use of vine pigments — including charcoal made from the pruned vine branches — these artworks explore lines, patterns, organic shapes, textures, colours and ephemeral beauty of the vineyard. This ongoing series not only records the cycle of winemaking where the land and the hands that tend it mark the rhythm of growth, decay, and renewal, but also serves as a foundation for further abstraction and exploration.
