Erbe spontanee

“Da Prato a cucina” — Erbe spontanee celebrates the wild herbs of the vineyard and hillsides through botanical studies, foraging and the art of cooking

WILD HERBS + GRASSES

“Erbe Spontanea” is a tribute to the wild herbs that emerge and disappear naturally in the vineyards and hills of Veneto. These spontaneous plants — such as Carletti and “Piscane” — (Trassaco), are deeply rooted in local culinary traditions, foraging practices and seasonal rhythms.  Through contemporary botanical watercolours, drawings and minimalist abstractions  I explore their beauty in subtle shades of natural pigments, while also embracing the ritual of foraging and the delicate flavours they bring to the table.

The vineyard is a landscape in constant motion. Wild herbs and grasses grow, flower, are cut back, lie dormant and return — marking time alongside the pruning of the vines, the harvest, the toll of distant church bells, the hum of tractors and buzz of strimmers.

The wild herbs and grasses continue their quiet cycle, shaping and reshaping the vineyard’s patterns, textures, and colours, season after season.
